For his contribution to the world of music, the Government of India honored him with Padma Shri in 1991 and Padma Bhushan in 2018. The melodious songs sung by late Sharda Sinha in a melodious voice on the occasion of Chhath festival resonate in all parts of the country including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
