NCC inculcates the spirit of discipline, leadership and service among the youth. Whenever any disaster occurs, NCC cadets are definitely present there to help. Today, continuous work is being done to strengthen NCC. Now the number of girls cadets in NCC has increased by 40 percent.
Vivekananda Jayanti will be celebrated in a special way
PM Modi said that this time on the 162nd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on January 12, it will be celebrated in a special way. On this occasion, Mahakumbh of youth is going to be held at Bharat Mandapam on 11th and 12th January. Crores of youth will participate in this. You will remember that from the ramparts of the Red Fort, I have called upon such youth, whose families do not have any political background, to enter politics. Campaigns will be run to connect one lakh such youth with politics. Experts from India and abroad will come in this. I will also be present in this as much as possible. A blueprint will be prepared on how the country can take these ideas forward. This is going to be a big opportunity for the future generation of the country.
Youth serving the society selflessly
PM Modi said that in Mann Ki Baat we often talk about such youth who are selflessly working for the society. There are many youth who are engaged in finding solutions to people's problems. Virendra of Lucknow is making the elders of his area aware about technology. In many cities, youth are coming forward to make the elders partners in the digital revolution. Mahesh of Bhopal is making many elderly people aware about making payments through mobile. Apart from this, youth are also being made aware to protect themselves from digital arrest. I discussed it in the last episode. Elderly people mostly become victims of this type of crime. We have to explain to the people that there is no provision like digital arrest. I am happy that young friends are taking part in this work and inspiring others too.
Increase friendship with books
PM Modi said that these days many experiments are being done regarding the education of children. It is also said that books are man's best friend. Now what better place than the library to strengthen this friendship. Such a library has been prepared for children in Chennai, which has now become a center of creativity. It contains more than 3000 books. Apart from this, many types of activities also attract children. There is definitely something for everyone. Gopalganj's Prayog Library is being discussed in many cities of Bihar. With this, the youth of about 12 villages have started getting the facility to read books. There are some libraries which are useful to the students in preparing for competitive examinations. You too develop friendship with books and see how your life changes.
People of Indian origin in dozens of countries around the world
Project being run to preserve history
PM Modi said that you will also find interesting the Extra Ordinary Project going on in Oman. Many Indian expatriate families are living in Oman. Many of them have Omani citizenship, but Indianness resides in their veins. Documents related to these have been collected. Oral History Project is also the basis of this. In this, senior people there have shared their experiences. A similar project is also happening in India. Under this, history lovers are collecting the experiences of the people during the partition period of the country. Today there are very few people left who saw that period. The country which cherishes its history also has a good future. Many other similar projects are being run in the country. You can also cooperate in this. Our Upanishads have been translated into Slovak for the first time in Slovakia. It is a matter of pride for all of us that there are crores of people across the world in whom India resides in their hearts.
More than 100 crore trees planted in five months
PM Modi said that a few months ago we had started a campaign in the name of a tree mother. This campaign has crossed the milestone of planting 100 crore trees, that too in just five months. You will be proud to know one more thing related to this that this campaign is now spreading in other countries of the world also. In Guyana too, the President of Guyana along with his family joined me in the campaign in the name of a tree mother. This campaign is being run in different parts of the country. 12 lakh trees were planted in Indore in 24 hours. A unique record was made in Jaisalmer. Here a team of women planted 25 thousand trees in 1 hour. Many social organizations are planting trees under the Ek Peed Maa Ke Naam campaign. His endeavor is to develop the entire eco system where trees are planted. By joining this campaign, any person can plant a tree in the name of his mother. We can never repay our mother's debt, but by planting a tree we can make her presence alive.
Important contribution of sparrow in biodiversity
PM Modi said that all of you must have seen the sparrow in your childhood. Sparrows play an important role in maintaining the biodiversity around us. Due to increasing urbanization the sparrow has gone away from us. Children of today's generation have seen this bird only in pictures. Now many efforts are being made for the return of this bird. If you also make efforts around you, sparrows will become a part of our lives.
Cooperate in cleanliness campaign
PM Modi said that you must have seen that as soon as someone says government office, pictures of piles of files are formed in your mind. A special cleanliness drive was launched to remove such decades-old files, the results of which have also been revealed. Where there is cleanliness, Goddess Lakshmi resides there. Two daughters from Mumbai, Akshara and Prakriti are making fashion items from clippings. Their team converts clothing waste into fashion products. Regarding cleanliness, some people in Kanpur also go out on morning walk every day and collect garbage. Earlier only a few people were involved in it, but now it has become a big campaign. Small efforts lead to big success, example of this is Itisha of Assam. She is engaged in cleaning the Shanti Valley of Arunachal. The people of his group create awareness among the tourists coming there. Such efforts give impetus to India's cleanliness campaign.
