After Congress, BJP has also announced the name of the candidate for the by-election on Kedarnath assembly seat of Uttarakhand. BJP has again expressed confidence in its former MLA for the by-election on this assembly seat. The party has declared Asha Nautiyal as its candidate. Kedarnath assembly seat had become vacant due to the death of BJP MLA Shaila Rani Rawat.
Congress also played a bet on former MLA
Congress on Sunday expressed confidence in former MLA Manoj Rawat and declared him as its candidate. Rawat, who became MLA for the first time from Kedarnath seat in the year 2017, had to finish third in the 2022 assembly elections. Rawat has entered politics from the field of journalism.
The last date for filing nomination papers for the by-election on Kedarnath assembly seat is October 29, while the nomination papers will be scrutinized on October 30 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is November 4. Voting for Kedarnath assembly seat will be held on November 20 and counting of votes will be done on November 23.
Why is this seat important for BJP-Congress?
Officials said that 173 polling stations have been made for Kedarnath assembly constituency. He said that there are 90,540 voters in the assembly constituency which includes 45,775 women voters. This by-election is being considered very important for both the political parties Congress and BJP, which they do not want to miss. After defeating Congress 5-0 in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP had to face defeat in two assembly by-elections held in the state – Badrinath and Mangalore, in view of which the party does not want to leave any stone unturned this time.
