Bengaluru: After the Tirupati Laddu controversy took a serious turn, the Karnataka government on Friday issued a circular instructing all temples under the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department to maintain the quality of the prasad prepared there. Temples have been asked to use only Nandini brand ghee of 'Karnataka Milk Federation'.
Instructions to maintain the quality of Prasad in temples
The government circular said, “It is directed that all notified temples under the Karnataka State Religious Endowments Department should use only Nandini ghee for 'seva', diyas, making all kinds of prasad and in Dasoha bhavan (where food is served).” It added, “It is directed that the quality of prasad in temples should be maintained.”
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which manages the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple, on Friday revealed that samples tested for quality of ghee were found to have substandard quality and the presence of 'lard' (pig fat), matching claims made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu two days ago.
