New Delhi: Karnataka High Court judge Justice Srishanand has tendered an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court for his controversial remarks. In the apology filed in the Supreme Court, Justice Srishanand has said that his statement was presented in the wrong context. He did not intend to hurt anyone's sentiments.
The Supreme Court said that we have to see that Justice Srishanand has apologized in open court proceedings. In the interest of the judiciary, it is necessary that we accept his apology and do not take any further action in this matter.

The Supreme Court accepted his apology and stopped the action against him. The Supreme Court had taken suo motu cognizance of the controversial remarks made by Justice Srishanand of the Karnataka High Court and had sought a report from the High Court.
What was the controversial statement?
Justice Srishanand had made a controversial comment after discussing road safety on August 28. He had described an area of Bengaluru as Pakistan. The second comment was made for a female lawyer. Both the comments were heavily criticized on social media.
The judge had expressed regret over his statement
Karnataka High Court judge Justice V Sreesanand had expressed regret over his recent statements. He had said that this happened inadvertently. It was not meant to hurt the sentiments of any person or section of the society. He gave this clarification in the court in the presence of members of the Bangalore Advocates Association.
