The country's next Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, while delivering a speech at the farewell ceremony organized on the last working day of current CJI D.Y. Chandrachud, praised his remarkable contribution. Justice Khanna said, 'He i.e. CJI Chandrachud worked on the mission of improving the Supreme Court. After his removal from the post, there will be a vacancy in the Supreme Court.

Delivering the farewell speech, he further said, 'When a huge tree retreats in the forest of justice, the birds stop their songs. The wind begins to blow differently and the rest of the trees shift positions to fill the void. But the forest would never be the same again. He further said, from Monday we will feel this change deeply. There will be a void echoing in the pillars of this court. Not only this, there will be a peaceful echo in the hearts of the members of the Bar and Bench.
Giving further speech, he said, '38 decisions of the Constitutional Bench, out of which 2 have been pronounced today, this is a record which will never be broken.
