Last week, an Indian Navy submarine and a fishing boat collided in the sea northwest of Goa. After this collision, 11 people aboard the fishing vessel were successfully rescued. At the same time, 2 people had gone missing. Since then a search operation was being conducted for both of them. Now the bodies of both of them have been recovered from the Arabian Sea near Goa coast.
What was the whole incident?
The fishing boat was named Marthoma and had a crew of 13 people. Marthoma collided with an Indian Navy submarine 70 nautical miles off the coast of Goa. Eleven people were saved and a large-scale rescue operation was launched to save two. However, both their lives could not be saved. The bodies of both the crew members were recovered from the sea bed near the wreck of the boat on Thursday in a joint operation by the Navy, Indian Coast Guard and ONGC.
Dead bodies found near boat wreck
A Navy officer has informed that the Indian Navy and Coast Guard together conducted a search operation for a week. After this the wreckage of the boat was discovered. With the help of ONGC, bodies of two crew members were found near the wreckage of the boat. These bodies are being handed over to the authorities.
A massive rescue operation was launched to search for the two crew of the fishing boat Marthoma. Additional assets including Coast Guard were sent for rescue in coordination with MRCC (Mumbai). The Navy had said that the cause of the incident would be investigated. (input language)
