Case of farmer movement reached Supreme Court, demand for opening of National Highway – Top News Bulletin


New Delhi: The matter of farmers' movement has now reached the Supreme Court. In fact, farmers are continuing their protests regarding their demands. Today, farmers kept protesting at Shambhu border throughout the day. In view of this demonstration, many highways have also been closed. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the closure of the highway. Petitioner Gautam Luthra has filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Through the petition, he has demanded opening of the National Highway closed by the farmers. The petition demands opening of all the national highways and railway tracks closed by farmers to the general public.

Tear gas shells were released to stop the farmers

In fact, on the Punjab-Haryana border, a group of 101 farmers started a foot march towards Delhi on Sunday. However, the farmers could not move forward due to the barriers imposed by the security personnel of Haryana. During this, tear gas shells were released and water cannons were used to stop and disperse the farmers. During this time, Ambala Police had said that farmer organizations should travel to Delhi only after taking permission from the Delhi administration.

The foot march had to be postponed earlier also

The farmers had to postpone their protest amid the day long protest. Earlier on Friday also, farmers had to postpone their march as some of them were injured by tear gas shells. Farmer leader Pandher had said on Saturday that farmers have not received any response from the Center in this matter. Apart from MSP, farmers are demanding loan waiver, pension for farmers and farm laborers and no increase in electricity rates. The farmers are also demanding “justice” for the victims of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence, restoration of the Land Acquisition Act 2013 and compensation to the families of farmers killed during the previous agitation in 2020-21.
