Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a meeting with the Chief Ministers of militancy affected states today. During this time, Home Minister Amit Shah will review the situation in the states. This meeting is to be held at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. Where many topics will be discussed with the Chief Ministers of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected states.
These people will attend this meeting
Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh will participate in the meeting. Apart from this, 5 Union Ministers and senior officials of the Central Ministries who are supporting the States in accelerating the development works in the Left Wing Extremism affected areas will also be present in the meeting. Apart from this, Deputy National Security Advisor, senior officers of Central Armed Police Forces and states will also participate in the meeting.
Extremism has to be eliminated from the states by 2026
Under the leadership of PM Modi and the guidance of Home Minister Shah, the Central Government is committed to eliminate Left Wing Extremism by March 2026. The Central Government is providing all possible assistance to all the affected states.
Review meeting was held in October 2023
Home Minister Amit Shah had chaired the last review meeting with the Chief Ministers of Left Wing Extremism affected states on October 6, 2023. Then comprehensive guidelines were given for the eradication of leftist extremism.
Reduction in violence of extremism
Security forces got success
Citing key figures till 2024, it said that the security forces have achieved unprecedented success against the Maoists. In the first nine months of this year, 202 Maoists have been killed, while 723 have surrendered. With this, the number of districts affected by Left Wing Extremism will reduce to only 38 in 2024.
