Bengaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party and its ally Janata Dal (Secular) have suffered a major setback in the by-elections held in Karnataka. The party had contested the by-elections on Sandur and Shiggaon assembly seats in the state and the party suffered a crushing defeat on both the seats. At the same time, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of former Chief Minister and current Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, had contested the Channapatna seat of the state, but he too had to face defeat at the hands of the Congress candidate. In this way, while on one hand the BJP alliance was completely disappointed, on the other hand Congress registered a big psychological victory.
Sons of 2-2 former Chief Ministers lost
HD Kumaraswamy's son Nikhil Kumaraswamy, contesting from Channapatna, was defeated by his rival and Congress candidate CP Yogeshwar by a margin of 25413 votes. Yogeshwar got 112642 votes and Nikhil got 87229 votes. Talking about Sandur assembly seat, Congress's E Annapurna got 93616 votes and BJP candidate Hanumantu Bangaru got 83967 votes. In this way the Congress candidate has won by 9649 votes. Whereas, in Shiggaon, Congress's Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan has defeated BJP candidate Bharat Bommai, son of BJP leader and former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, by a margin of 13448 votes. In this way, the sons of 2-2 former Chief Ministers in Karnataka have had to face defeat.
BJP's big defeat in Jharkhand also
Let us tell you that BJP has also faced a big defeat in the Jharkhand Assembly elections. On one hand, the JMM led alliance seems to be getting a lead in more than 50 seats, while the BJP alliance seems to be getting reduced to less than 30 seats. However, the magic of BJP+ has worked in full swing in Maharashtra and this alliance seems to be winning more than 220 seats. The amazing thing is that BJP, which contested elections on less than 150 seats, is seen winning around 125 seats here. If seen in this way, while on one hand BJP has got disappointment from Jharkhand, on the other hand Maharashtra has also given a reason to be happy.
