InRa believed that in earlier times, the choices of vegetables were very limited and such spiced vegetables were prepared only during festivals or on special days. Like making purikachori is a common thing these days. There were no options like cheese etc. earlier. Therefore it is possible that it might have been made like this.
But, after asking senior people, it was found that in earlier times, whatever things were made, there used to be reasons behind them. The problem is simply that we are told to do things. But, the reasons for the same are not explained, because of this we associate such things with blind faith. So friends, now we know that the main reasons for eating and feeding tuberous vegetables on the day of Diwali:-
Actually, Kand is known by many names in our country, like Suran, Jimikand (at some places it is also called Ol) and Kand, nowadays hybrid Suran has come in the market. Sometimes local Suran is also found. Every vegetable seller in the market (especially in North India) keeps Suran 34 days before Diwali and the interesting thing is that it also has a long life.
Among the vegetables, Suran is the only vegetable in which phosphorus is found in high quantity and now even medical science has accepted that if we eat local Suran vegetable on this one day, then there will be no shortage of phosphorus in the body of a healthy person for months. . It protects from terrible diseases like piles and cancer. It contains fiber, vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin B1 and folic acid. It also contains potassium, iron, magnesium and calcium.
I don't know how long this tradition has been going on. But, if you think about it, scientificity was hidden in our folk beliefs also. Blessed be our ancestors who integrated science into our traditions, customs and rituals.
