Talking about the benefits of beneficial figs, the nutritionist said, “If we talk about fresh figs, it is available only during the monsoon season. But you can buy dried figs from the market in every season.
Talking about soaked figs, Dr. Kanika said, “Wetted figs are very beneficial for health. Dried figs are soaked because after this the vitamins and minerals present in it work better on the digestive system.
Nutritionist Dr. Kanika Sachdev said, “Figs are considered a very good source of potassium. The potassium present in it works to control high blood. Its phenol, omega3, omega6 fatty acid properties protect the person from heart disease.
Apart from potassium, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium are also found in abundance in figs. The fiber present in it is very beneficial in stomach related problems. Along with this, it also plays an important role in reducing weight.
On whether figs should be taken by diabetic patients, the nutritionist said, “Though figs are very special due to their properties, but if we talk about diabetic patients, then they should consume it in limited quantities only.”
