New Delhi . When youth start their professional life, their daily physical activity and sleep are essential for healthy life. But they fall sharply. This information has been revealed in a study conducted by scientists at the University of Cambridge.
The study stated that physical activity initially increases after starting a job, but over time it decreases significantly.
Youths who do more physical activity are simply driving or hairdressing, and regular businesses such as cleaning or waiting, or technical jobs.
In contrast, people coming to managerial or professional positions do not involve physical activity.
The biggest decline in the level of physical activity was seen in those who work from home – although there was no change in their sleep levels when they started work.
“If we want to be healthy throughout life, we need to remember that being active is an important means to achieve this goal,” said Elena Oxonham said from the Medical Research Council (MRC) epidemic unit at the university.
Oxonham advised people working from home to “consider involving physical activity in their day”. He suggested that “go for a walk before or after work, or during lunch.”
The study analyzed data from more than 3,000 people at the age of 1630 years. All started a job for the first time between 2015 and 2023.
On an average, 28 -minute medium activity (such as cycling) increased on an average after starting the job as per the result published in the International Journal of Behavior Neutrition and Physical Activity. However, later this activity decreases.
Researchers found that young adults' sleep had reduced by about 10 minutes per night.
Researchers have urged the workplaces to promote healthy diets, physical activity and sleep in young adults. This will lead to “healthy employees” will reduce the holiday due to illness.
