Lucknow . Yogi government is committed to eradicate filariasis from Uttar Pradesh by the year 2027. Various types of efforts are being made for this. In this sequence, preparations have also intensified for the Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaign starting from February 10.
District level trainers have been trained. Under this, representatives of 33 community radio stations of the state were sensitized on Thursday. State Filaria Officer Dr. AK Chaudhary said that community radio can play an important role in making the MDA campaign 100 percent successful.
In the virtual sensitization workshop, Dr. Choudhary told that antifilarial medicines are given only to healthy people and if taken once a year for five years, the spread of filariasis in that area ends. Antifilarial medicines are also used in other diseases, hence they are absolutely safe. They do not have any side effects of any kind. If a person experiences side effects like itching and rashes after taking the medicine, it means that filariasis germs were present in his body, which causes such effects due to his death. Lucknow's BBD, KGMU Goonj and CMS stations were also included in the 33 community radio stations of the state.
Radio representatives were told that under the National Filariasis Elimination Programme, the MDA campaign will be run from 10 to 28 February in Lucknow, Unnao, Barabanki, Amethi, Ballia, Bareilly, Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Jaunpur, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Prayagraj and Sonbhadra districts. . Out of these 14 districts, triple drug will be administered in 12 and double drug will be administered in Barabanki and Shahjahanpur.
Under triple drug therapy, Ivermectin, diethylcarbamazine and albendazole are given and under double drug therapy, diethylcarbamazine and albendazole are given. This time, so that more and more people take antifilarial medicine, it has been decided to appoint a male worker along with the Asha worker as a drug administrator, so that even at night, people can go to their homes and take antifilarial medicine. Consumption can be ensured.
Dr. Chaudhary said that apart from these 14 districts, patients suffering from filariasis in other districts will continue to be given MMDP kits and training to keep the affected body parts safe. Hydrocele operations will continue. Also, night blood survey will be conducted to check the spread of filariasis. You guys should spread this thing in the community as much as possible. WHO, GHS, PATH, PCI, 'Smart' and Center for Advocacy and Research organizations are cooperating in this campaign.
