Many people take gram for breakfast. Eaten in every season, winter, rainy and summer, it is rich in calcium and iron. At the same time, it is also rich in protein. Gram, rich in nutrients, is very helpful in making the body strong and muscular.
Dr. Amit Kumar of Shatayu Ayurveda and Panchakarma Center of Hardoi said that gram contains high amount of dietary fiber, which improves the digestive system. Some people eat gram soaked in water while others enjoy eating roasted gram.
Dr. Kumar says, if we talk about the benefits of consuming roasted gram, it helps in increasing the digestive power. Which provides relief from problems like gas, acidity and indigestion in the stomach. It also proves helpful in increasing metabolism in the body.
Eating roasted gram is very beneficial in anemia. At the same time, if it is eaten with jaggery, it gets more benefits. By eating jaggery and gram, the body gets adequate amount of iron. Hemoglobin level in the body increases and anemia is removed.
The glycemic index of roasted gram is very low, hence it is considered a very beneficial snack for a person suffering from diabetes. Helpful in improving the digestive system and controlling blood sugar level. Eating this fills the stomach quickly and one does not feel hungry for a long time.
Dr. Kumar also tells the most important thing and that is the nutritive value of gram. According to him, 100 grams of gram contains about 58.99 grams of carbohydrates, 25.21 grams of protein, 18.3 grams of dietary fiber and 1.64 grams of fat. Apart from this, many micronutrients like iron, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc and copper are also present in good quantity in it.
