Chennai. 55-year-old Ananthalakshmi, suffering from brain tumor, underwent a successful surgery in a government hospital. A large team of doctors performed this surgery. But, the manner in which this surgery was performed is being widely discussed.
Actually, the doctors performed the surgery while showing the patient his favorite actor’s favorite movie. This movie is actor Junior NTR’s ‘Adurs’. The surprising thing is that the patient watched the entire movie during the surgery. During the surgery, the ‘Awake Craniotomy (Awake Brain Surgery)’ method was used while showing the movie to the patient.
In medical science, ‘Awake Craniotomy’ or ‘Awake Brain Surgery’ is a method by which if a doctor performs surgery on a patient, the patient is able to understand external sensations and activities during that time. He can also talk to anyone, understand the feelings of others. Using this method, the patient was shown his favourite movie during the surgery.
The patient had been feeling numbness in the right side of his body for the past few days and was also experiencing headache. He visited many private hospitals but the cause of his illness could not be ascertained.
Finally, after medical examination, it was found that the patient had a tumor of 3.3 x 2.7 cm on the left side of the brain. The patient contacted many private hospitals for surgery, but he backed out due to the high cost and complicated procedure. Finally, when the problem became serious, he turned to the government hospital, where his surgery has now been successfully completed. This successful surgery is being described as unprecedented not only for the patient but for the entire hospital. To keep the patient worry-free during this surgical process, the medical team showed the patient his favorite movie ‘Adurs’.
