Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered PC players will need to register through their PSN accounts to play the single-player adventure on Steam.
As noted on Valve's PC store and spotted by Agency, like other notable PlayStation-flavored Steam releases such as Helldivers 2, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, and God of War Ragnarök, players will not be able to play Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on PC. without a PSN account.
While the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition Steam page is still up, it is no longer available for purchase after Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition was quietly removed from Steam and the Epic Games Store in late September.
That means there's now no legal way to play Horizon Zero Dawn on Steam without purchasing the remaster pack… which, controversially, requires a PSN account.
Disgruntled Steam players have already taken to the game's Steam discussion hub to express their dismay, with one titling their thread: “Requires [sic] PSN account: Insta ignored.”
“So you want me to give you money, give you my information… for a little bit of updated graphics,” added another. “You can keep your remaster.”
This all goes back to the beginning of summer with Helldivers' PSN PC login requirement. There was such a scathing reaction that Sony backtracked on its original plans and then automatically refunded players who purchased Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut in countries where PSN is not available.
Games like Helldivers 2 were then pulled from sale in 177 countries following the disastrous launch of mandatory PSN tying, prompting a huge backlash and considerable review blitz.
The removal from the PC store came less than a fortnight after Sony announced that a remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn would be released on October 31 on PlayStation 5 and PC.
