As you may have noticed, Warcraft turns 30 this year (this week in fact, if you want to be more specific), and Blizzard is marking the occasion with a news riot covering its various games set in the Warcraft universe. And that of course includes World of Warcraft, today we announced that the long-running MMO will soon see customizable cars, the launch of World of Warcraft Classic Classicplus player homes sometime next year.
On the World of Warcraft Classic front, Blizzard has announced that it will release Mists of Pandaria Classic in 2025, with a roadmap accompanying the news pointing to a pre-patch release early next summer, ahead of the full release a little later. In addition, the imminent arrival of World of Warcraft Classic Classic is confirmed (not strictly an official title), which introduces new realms as part of the 20th Anniversary Edition of WoW Classic launching on November 21 of this year. These will be available in PvP, PvE, and Hardcore versions, and will all advance to Burning Crusade Classic (Classic?) next year.
Meanwhile, in regular World of Warcraft, patch 11.0.7 is on the horizon, introducing Mermaid Island as this year's The War Within expansion continues to roll out. This comes on top of a revamped Winter Veil event for the holiday season and the previously announced return of WoW's Battle Royale-style Plunderstorm mode, which will return next year.
And as for what's next, it will be WoW update 11.1, officially known as Undermined, launching this winter. Undermined takes players to the capital city of the goblin trading empire, called, yes, Undermine, where they will learn more about goblin culture as the story of The War Within continues, aligning themselves with one of the four goblin cartels in war: Steamwheedle, Blackwater, Bilgewater and the Venture Company.
There's a lot going on in Update 11.1, including a new dungeon, Operation: Floodgate, in which players will compete to stop a group of goblins from blowing up a dam that would bring ruin to Ringing Deeps. It will be available immediately as part of the Season 2 dungeon pool, along with four other launch dungeons and three returning legacy dungeons, including Battle for Azeroth's Motherlode. There's also a new PvP arena map located in the heart of the city, plus an eight-boss raid zone, The Liberation of Undermine, which takes players through the city streets to the colorful but deadly Gallagio, where waits for its owner, Gallywix.
Undermined's most notable addition, however, is the introduction of cars, which players will obtain at the beginning of their mission, allowing them to navigate the streets of Undermine “much, much faster” than a normal ground mount would allow. . Better yet, the car's characteristics (grip, drift, acceleration, top speed, etc.) can be customized to suit players' tastes.
In other Warcraft news, Blizzard has announced remasters of Warcraft 1 and 2, which real-time strategy fans can purchase, either on their own or as part of a new $39.99 USD Battle Chest bundle containing Warcraft 3: Reforged, starting today.
