The Until Dawn remake will debut on PS5 and PC tomorrow, October 4.
However, some have already managed to get their hands on the game before its official release date and, as such, new information about the remake has begun to circulate online. This includes a new ending, which points to a possible sequel.
Please note, There will be spoilers for Until Dawn below..
The new ending was uploaded to the Until Dawn reddit feed via crawlplays. The footage, which is still active at the time of writing, reveals two post-credits scenes, each providing a glimpse of where the story of those poor, unfortunate teenagers might go next.
The first scene is of Josh, played by Rami Malek. In the original release of Until Dawn, Josh's character can die or, in a post-credits scene, find himself transformed into one of the game's savage, cannibalistic creatures known as the Wendigo.
The new ending, however, changes Josh's fate and reveals that he survived his encounter with the Wendigo and, although clearly not in a good way, is still human. As the scene focuses on Josh's shrunken figure, a voiceover from Dr. Hill speaks of the teen finding some kind of redemption, suggesting that he might eventually be able to get out of the mines.
Meanwhile, the second post-credits scene shows Hayden Panettiere's Sam, who is in Los Angeles several years after the events of Until Dawn's narrative. His nightstand is shown to be covered in pill bottles, suggesting that he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. He also keeps a book by his bed: Creature Myths of the Great Plains.
When Sam's alarm goes off at 6am, she goes to cancel the alert only to discover blood running down her arm. He can't stop the flow of blood, which is coming from a wound in his forearm. Then, a creepy voice is heard calling her name, making her jump. It seems that both Sam's injury and the voice could be a hallucination.
What could all this mean?
While a sequel to Until Dawn has yet to be announced, a film adaptation is in the works. In August, it was announced that actor Peter Stormare will reprise his role from the game, playing psychiatrist Dr. Hill.
