I love Sekiro for making everyone hungry to stop, and this PS1-style action-horror game has it in abundance.
Samurai Unicorn is an upcoming game that combines elements of Resident Evil, Sekiro, and Shadow of Mordor. In a clip posted on Twitter, we see the protagonist shoot a creature with a gun. Pretty normal stuff. That is, until the creature lunges to attack and a ghost with a sword emerges from the main character and stops the blow. It's amazing.
I can't prove it, but it seems that since Sekrio came out, more and more games are focusing on parrying and rhythmic combat instead of just dodge rolling. There is a game coming out that allows you stop nuclear weapons and even the ground itself.
Another fake PS1 horror game? looks good, but-*a ghostly samurai comes out to stop the boss instead of just dodging*…. huh https://t.co/7BOPGAgyh3 December 2, 2024
Of course, Shadow of Mordor's influence is also clear in Samurai Unicorn. A ghostly apparition that helps you in combat is the main fighting mechanic of that game and it works brilliantly.
Samurai Unicorn has a sci-fi setting and takes place within “the sprawling megacity of Sydney3”, so I'm not sure why there's a samurai ghost, but hey, it looks amazing so I'm happy to go with it. This is a video game and interesting and strange things can happen in video games. “This PS1 is authentic and rare,” uckema tweets.
People on Twitter also seem equally impressed and confused. “Another fake horror game for PS1? Looks good, but- *ghostly samurai jumps out to stop the boss instead of just dodging* ….huh,” writes SSStylishHuntr.
