Step up, board gamers, and embark on a swashbuckling fantasy with a Cyber Monday deal from Limithron. borg piratean independent system based on Free League MÖRK BORGis a rules-light game about being the most dastardly pirate to ever sail the seven seas, and the first printing of the Core Book is on sale for $34.99 (was $39.99).
Coming from the Old School Renaissance style of board games, the system focuses more on player agency and strategy than character optimization, with character creation optimized for random generation. There are six main classes of pirates that players can choose from, including rogue, swordsman, brute, fanatic, sorcerer and buccaneer, each with their own approach to life on the open seas.
You can expect your pirate to die more often than the average D&D adventurer, but combat isn't hard work, since the players make all the rolls. When enemies attack, the gamemaster does not roll the liar's dice; instead, it is the Player Characters who shoot to defend. And of course, you can't have a pirate game without rules for naval combat, so it comes with stat blocks available for 18 different ships.
The full-color book art design combines MÖRK BORGPsychedelic and otherworldly grunge with 18th century pirate aesthetics, like worn parchment and skeletal iconography. Maps, both treasure and navigation, are included with cargo tables, quests, rumors, unexplored islands and anything else that may arise on a pirate adventure. Included with the text is an introductory adventure, The Curse of Skeleton Point.
