We've all created a stealth archer in Skyrim at some point, or several, but have you ever killed 999 people before pointing your sword at the Emperor to mark the 1000th number? This player has it.
Peterlerock says they achieved these stats by playing as an illusion assassin. “I never entered any vampire/dwemr/draugr content, and I pacify all animals,” they explain. “I think I cleared every bandit/renegade/black mage site in the game at least once. Gotta do without Hagravens and random vampires (like Hern for Dark Brotherhood).”
Kill number 1000 of r/skyrim
They aren't taking the easy way out with this either, opting to play on expert difficulty but with “heavily modified” gameplay. “For an illusion killer to work, spam Muffle until you can buy higher levels of Calm. So it's kind of an easy mode,” they say. “Avoid using other skills (speech, lock picking, etc.) at first to keep the enemy's level artificially low.”
I played a Nightblade myself and loved it. I didn't do it as rigidly as Peterlerock, but it would be fun to try on my next trip to Tamriel. However, I have used the Muffle trick before, as it is by far the easiest way to quickly improve your illusion skill. There are other ways to improve your skills, but be careful as they can ruin your game.
If you want to try this yourself on legendary difficulty, Peterlerock has a strategy for that too. “In Legendary, you must separate the bandits from each other and then sneak attack them with double power with two daggers, followed by calm,” they explain. “It shouldn't take more than two cycles per bandit. You can get like a 60 snitch just from the Embershard mine. With a 50+ snitch, Dark Brotherhood muffle boots or a muffle spell, and stealth buffs, it's not that hard anymore in the dungeons. Outside In this world, you need a source of invisibility. Alchemy potions or illusion spells. Outside, enemies have much better detection abilities.
