We're continuing to learn more about the world of Exodus, the new space RPG from some former Mass Effect trilogy developers, as it nears its release this year, and to no one's surprise, this sci-fi adventure takes some inspiration in Star. Wars.
The tidbit comes from a new Q&A session with developer Archetype Entertainment's co-founders and former BioWare leaders James Ohlen and Chad Robertson, where the duo delved into some of the upcoming game's story. More specifically, the two were asked about The Travelers, the organization we play as that goes on interstellar expeditions to search for ancient alien technology.
“You're going to be part of an organization that goes out and finds these remains that you can bring back that will help your world and change it,” Ohlen explains in the video. “That will be the centerpiece of the intellectual property.”
“There are elements that we want to seem elitist and somewhat secretive,” Robertson chimes in. “You can think a little bit about the inspiration of the Jedi, but there's no Jedi council in the game that's an overarching structure. They're a little more rebellious, a little more independent, but still working toward a common goal.” goal of saving humanity. And I think it's a binding force for them on these trips that they take that are interstellar and have an impact on them in terms of the timeline that is different from a typical trip.”
Once you've caught that old technology, you'll have to decide how to use it. And whatever you choose, there will be repercussions lasting decades and even centuries in the game for you and your “main hub” of a city.
Exodus recently received an action-packed trailer featuring gunfights, aliens, and a huge grizzly bear equipped with incredible armor.
