Good news for Star Wars fans, rumors about Sigourney Weaver starring in the next The Mandalorian and Grogu The suspicions about the film were true, as the Alien star confirmed his participation in the cast.
“I'm playing a role in The Mandalorian and Grogu,” Weaver confirmed in an interview with Deadline. “I met Grogu for the first time the other day.” The Avatar star revealed that filming for his role will wrap before the end of the year.
Weaver is the first star to confirm her involvement. As of yet, it's unclear who else will appear in the upcoming film, though we can assume that The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal will reprise his role, along with Baby Yoda, aka Grogu, of course. One Star Wars character who won't be appearing is Boba Fett. The Book of Boba Fett star Temuera Morrison recently revealed the news, adding that the poor reception of the spin-off show may have affected the future of his character forever.
The last time we saw Mando and his little Grogu in The Mandalorian Season 3, The couple had settled together on Nevarro and Mando had officially adopted Grogu as his own son. Now, the duo will embark on their own film, the first Star Wars movie since The Rise of Skywalker fell in 2019.
For now, Disney is keeping plot details for The Mandalorian & Grogu movie under wraps. However, at D23 2024, some teasers were shown that showed Grogu as Din Djarin's bounty hunter apprentice. The clip also featured appearances by some Babu Friks, Razor Crest, and Zeb Orrelios, and included some shots of a distant snowy planet.
A broader cast for The Mandalorian & Grogu has not been revealed at this time. The film is directed by The Mandalorian series creator Jon Favreau, with Ahsoka Creator Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will serve as producers.
