Severance is already preparing future seasons, according to one of its executive producers. Mohammad El Masri said IndieWire that they are “always thinking about future seasons” when making the show.
“Even in Season 2, we were talking about what the endgame is and how this show ends. There was a lot of talk about that,” he explained. “I think there's a natural overlap that happens, especially with the second season of a show, that you have to keep [the momentum] going. “People are interested, people are watching, and now with Season 2, you really have to think, not only about what Season 2 is going to deliver in a satisfying way, but also how this sets up Season 3 and beyond.” .
El Masri also confirmed that even though there is no official renewal yet, “season 3 was being worked on while they were still filming season 2.” Severance season 2 will begin on Apple TV+ in January 2025 and, from what has been teased so far, will include a return to Lumon after the dramatic season 1 finale.
The producer announced that they will also delve much deeper into the company's history and described the program as having “video game quality” as it reveals “undiscovered parts of the map.” He added: “A lot of our work in Season 2 was like, 'What else is there in this place? Where else can we go? What else can we find out? What does this company want? How did this company get to this place?' city? What does this family want? Those are things you have to answer.
