Each member of the party has a “best archetype” in Metaphor: ReFantazioalthough the game clearly wants you to experiment with your own combinations. However, a system called Royal archetypes It opens at the end of the story and almost requires that you have spent the entire game pushing each character in a specific direction if you want to unlock them in time to beat the final boss.
The good news is that these royal archetypes are extremely powerful and well worth the effort required to unlock them.
Next, we will break down the best Archetypes for each member of the group in Metaphor: ReFantazio (including the protagonist). There are lots of spoilers for all job families, Royal Archetype job titles, and end-game party members below, so scroll at your own risk.
Best Archetypes for the protagonist
Unlike the other heroes who will travel with you in Metaphor: ReFantaziothe hero will unlock his Royal Archetype (Prince) through the story. This will unlock the ability to study Royal Archetypes for the rest of your party members as well, although they will have to earn it.
Because You will naturally unlock the Royal Prince archetype. You are free to study whatever you want for most of the game. Still, we had a lot of success pushing our protagonist towards more magical and healing routes, since you can't eliminate him from the party and those kinds of archetypes are always useful.
Consider these five families of archetypes for the protagonist as you progress through the game:
- Seeker
- Curator
- magician
- Businessman
- Gunner
Strohl's Best Archetypes
Strohl starts out as the Warrior and has fairly high strength. Because of this, it is ideal for archetypes that deal a lot of physical damage like Brawler. However, Strohl's ideal role limits him a bit, as there are some enemies that require more than just a sharp sword. Merchant is a nice addition to your kit to help boost your luck and get you the all-important Golden Attack, but Commander is really where Strohl shines outside of his Warrior home, as he'll learn tons of support skills that can make him invaluable. in some final battles.
When thinking about your Royal Archetype, you should focus on the Warrior and the Commander, as Royal Warrior job requires Samurai 20, Warlord 20 and 30,000 MAG to unlock.
Consider these four families of Strohl archetypes as you progress through the game:
- Warrior
- Commander
- Businessman
- Troublemaker
Hulkenberg's best archetypes
Hulkenberg is a bit of an odd member of the party in Metaphorsince to make her the best possible tank, you must also invest a lot in magic. To unlock the Magic Knight, and therefore the rest of the Knight line, you must teach Hulkenberg the Wizard Archetype. That tank and magic-user theme (usually opposing ideas in games like this) will follow Hulkenberg into his Royal Knight Archetype at the end of the game.
Royal Knight requires Paladin 20, Dark Knight 15, Elemental Master 15 and 30,000 MAG. If you eventually want her to study to be a Royal Knight, make sure you have her on a Knight or Mage path basically constantly, as she has a ton of job XP to sift through before the game is over, considering there are four jobs. in each of those families.
Consider these four families of Hulkenberg archetypes as you progress through the game:
- Gentleman
- magician
- Commander
- Curator
The best Heismay archetypes
Heismay is a true go-getter when it comes to getting jobs done. In fact, you'll need to invest in more jobs to get the Royal Heismay Archetype than anyone else in the party. So unless you want to spend all your final XP on Heismay, you'll have to be very disciplined to get him where he needs to go for the Royal Thief.
Royal Thief requires Ninja 20, Dragoon 15, Tycoon 15 and 30,000 MAG. What makes it complicated is that you'll need to master at least one archetype in the Seeker, Knight, and Commander trees to reach the high-level jobs in the Thief, Gunner, and Merchant trees. While you can pretty easily take on some secondary archetypes to gain key abilities with other characters, try to avoid doing so specifically with Heismay, as he needs a ton of archetype XP to reach his goal.
Stick to these six archetype families for Heismay as you progress through the game:
- Thief
- Gunner
- Businessman
- Seeker
- Gentleman
- Commander
Junah's Best Archetypes
Being the first of the last three members of the group, Junah's work stress is a little more relaxed. You'll start with her Masked Dancer advanced job and won't need the same prerequisites to unlock her that other characters will. So ideally you can place her in the Faker and Masked Dancer tree for the rest of the game.
Royal Masked Dancer requires Persona Master 20, Trickster 20 and 30,000 MAG. This means that your only barriers to the ultimate Junah Archetype is your Follower bond level with Junah herself and Alonzo. Make sure to prioritize them from the beginning so Junah isn't locked out of her more advanced jobs for too long. If you find yourself with XP to spare on Junah, consider delving into his magical abilities with Mage or his rogue abilities with Ninja.
Consider these four families of Junah archetypes as you progress through the game:
- masked dancer
- phony
- magician
- Thief
Eupha's Best Archetypes
Eupha is the penultimate party member you will unlock in Metaphorand it actually only requires you to level two trees: Royal Summoner requires Devil Summoner 20, Soul Hacker 20 and 30,000 MAG. This means that you only need to work on the extremely powerful Eupha Summoner job and the starting job, Seeker.
The only real barrier you have to getting the ultimate Eupha archetype is her follower bond level. The tricky thing about this, however, is how late in the game you get Eupha. Once you pick her up, you won't have much free time until the final stretch of the game, so you'll probably be stuck with her at a low Follower level for hours of story content. Try to establish their follower link as quickly as possible once you have those precious moments of free time at the end of the game.
Consider these four families of archetypes for Eupha as you progress through the game:
Basilio's best archetypes
Being the last party member you unlock, Basilio only requires you to master five Archetype Jobs to reach his final form. But that's actually one more job than his other two final companions, Eupha and Junah. Royal Berserker requires Destroyer 20, Martial Artist 20 and 30,000 MAGwhich is a bit of a problem when it comes to the raw XP required versus the amount of things you'll need to do in the final weeks of the game.
There are plenty of final dungeons to drag Basilio through before the final boss fight so you can unlock Royal Berserker, but you'll also need to max out his follower bond (which is the last bond you'll create) and Catherina's bond, who doesn't. It is available to visit regularly until almost the end of the game. To get Basilio where you want to go, be sure to prioritize spending time with him and Catherina, and save some XP fruits to help him with some of his jobs.
Consider these four families of Basilio archetypes as you progress through the game:
- berserker
- Troublemaker
- Gentleman
- Warrior
