Nintendo has announced Xenoblade Chronicles
“The year is 2054. Humans have fled Earth in the midst of a destructive intergalactic war. As one of the survivors and a member of the New Los Angeles (NLA) colony, your mission is to help build a new home in the sprawling and hostile planet Mira,” reads the official propaganda.
“This perfect open world across five otherworldly continents is teeming with unknown creatures, some of which are epic in scale, and players will fight for the future of humanity.” You can watch a trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition below.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will include additional story elements as well as customizable avatars at launch. Meanwhile, players will be able to unlock a “powerful” Skell, but only once they've done what it takes to prove themselves to the BLADE organization. A Skell, for those unfamiliar, is a giant robot that will assist in Mira's exploration.
The game will also feature some multiplayer-specific missions. Nintendo notes that a Switch Online membership and Nintendo Account are required to play online.
The addition of Xenoblade Chronicles
Notably, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 received a glowing review from Eurogamer in 2022, described as “a JRPG masterpiece.”
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will be released on March 20 next year for Nintendo Switch. There's no mention of that elusive Switch 2 console.
