There's a new Star Wars game on the horizon. No, I'm not talking about Eclipse or even the Knights of the Old Republic remake. In fact, I'm talking about the surprise announcement of Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles, an enhanced version of the original game, which was first released in 2000 (it's slowly falling apart).
Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles is developed by Aspyr and will come to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It will feature improved gameplay, improved models, the option to play with modern or classic controls, etc. It will also have all the characters and secret levels from the original game unlocked from the beginning, so you can attack as Darth Maul from the beginning if you wish.
There will also be 13 newly unlocked playable characters to fight with at the launch of Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles. These include a Droid Rifle and a Tusken Raider. My favorite feature, however. All the tricks are there too. Big Head Mode, here we come. You can watch the announcement trailer for Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles below.
“Use the power of the Force and your trusty lightsaber against legions of droids, assassins, and other legendary enemies as you battle iconic locations from Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace like Theed Palace and more,” it reads. a description attached.
Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles will debut on January 23. If you're interested, you can pre-order it on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. At the time of writing, it's selling for £16.74 on Xbox and £15.99 on PlayStation (although you can get a 10 per cent discount with PS Plus).
I just hope Aspyr releases a slightly more polished Star Wars game this time around.
The developer released its Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection earlier this year, but it arrived in a bit of a sorry state, with numerous bugs and a serious lack of preparation for online multiplayer.
Aspyr was also originally at the helm of the KOTOR remake, before development moved to Saber Interactive.
