The Squid Game Season 2 trailer is finally here, and it looks just as brutal as we expected.
In the second season, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) returns to the arena to face a series of sadistic games and try to defeat the leader (Lee Byung-hun) once and for all. The trailer reveals how much it follows the events that ended the first season, when Gi-hun won the games. However, just as he was about to board the plane to the US, he decided that his work wasn't done yet and opted to call the games' hotline and swear bloody revenge.
The new clip, which you can watch above, begins with Gi-hun answering a knock on his apartment door from the leader who tells him, “We’re ready to start the game.” We also get a look at the new arena, which looks a lot like the one from season one, right down to the contestants on bunk beds and the giant money box.
The guards are also back in their red suits, making their way through the chamber filled with cameras and the burning bodies of those who lose the games. There aren't many new challenges in the trailer, but we do see an arena with two huge rainbow rings. What sadistic game could that be?
In addition to the returning actors, the new season also welcomes a host of new cast members, including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.
The first season of Squid Game remains Netflix’s most-streamed series of all time, and by a long shot. It’s currently been watched for over two billion hours, and in the run-up to season two, that figure will likely rise even further. That’s not all good news, either, as the final season of Squid Game has been announced to be season three, arriving in 2025.
Squid Game season 2 premieres December 26 on Netflix. For more streaming options, here are our guides to the best Netflix shows and movies.
