Layoff showrunner Dan Erickson says we've barely scratched the surface when it comes to the Eagans, the cult family behind Lumon, and the “revolutionary” layoff process.
“We are going to see how some of their plans and machinations come true, or are about to come true. It was vitally important that [the writers] know them and that we know them well. “I have what has become a many, many page document that is essentially a show bible for us, keeping the history of the show,” Erickson says in the new issue of SFX magazinewhich features the Star Trek spinoff film Section 31 on the cover and hits newsstands December 31.
“We know the exact year each Eagan CEO took power and what technological advances occurred under their watch. There's interfamily drama I've built up for them over the generations that will likely never appear on the show. But I know , which helps me, ironically, having it so rigidly resolved gives us freedom, because we know the sandbox and we know all the toys that are in the sandbox, and now we can play.”
By the time Severance season 2 arrives on Apple TV Plus in January, it will have been three years since Severance first premiered, and that's a long time to sit through that wild, shocking, and twisted season 1 finale, which many Critics have revered it as one of the best television endings of all time.
The season ended with Mark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Iriving (John Turturo), and Dylan (Zach Cherry) violating protocol and discovering some pretty shocking information about Lumon and the terrifying people who run it. Luckily, season 2 picks up right where we left off, and it looks like we're in for quite a ride.
