Barbie star Ryan Gosling is reportedly in talks to lead the cast of Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy's new Star Wars project. If confirmed, Gosling would be the first official cast member for the untitled film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy's Star Wars project has been in development since 2022, with frequent collaborator Jonathan Tropper writing the script. Gosling, of course, rose to stardom with the 2004 romantic drama The Notebook and much more recently dazzled as Ken in Barbie, earning him a Best Supporting Actor nod at the Academy Awards.
Despite these key details, we don't know much else about the film, which isn't surprising since Disney has historically been secretive about internal Star Wars projects.
THR reports that Levy's adaptation will not be connected to the Skywalker Saga which focuses on legacy characters like Luke and Anakin Skywalker. It is also reportedly an independent film. Aside from those details, we are practically in the dark for now.
Fortunately, Levy's movie is far from the only Star Wars project in the works right now, and surprise, surprise, we actually know quite a bit about some of them, including The Mandalorian and Grogu.
