PlayStation services have been taken offline due to unknown issues affecting PS5 and PS4 players.
Sony's PSN status website is full of red warnings indicating that “some services are experiencing problems.”
Affected services include account management, including the ability to log in, gaming and social features, including the ability to launch some games, and PlayStation Store, including the ability to purchase, download, or redeem coupons.
“You may have difficulty signing in or creating an account on PlayStation Network,” a message from Sony states. “We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
Sony has yet to further acknowledge the situation or offer details on when its services will resume, aside from a Japanese Ask Playstation post on X that acknowledges a “PlayStation Network outage” and says Sony is “currently investigating.”
Eurogamer has contacted Sony for more information.
Yesterday, PS5 users expressed their displeasure at the appearance of promotional news on their console dashboard, advertising for past events or games that users already owned. Sony has since said the change was a “technical error” and would be reverted.
