It's been almost two weeks since fans were welcomed back to Silent Hill, but so far, there's still no fix for a bug that's blocking some players' progress toward the end of the Brookhaven Hospital level in Silent Hill 2 Remake.
By clicking on an innocent-looking interactive message after visiting Brookhaven's rooftop, James may find himself trapped and unable to progress further. Luckily, fans who have encountered the issue are taking the time to warn others about how to avoid it, so here's a quick, spoiler-free recap to make sure you're not affected too.
When you enter the third floor of Brookhaven, you'll see a porthole on a door next to a save point with an interaction symbol, triggering a short cutscene. So far, so good. However, when you return to the third floor with the Roof Key later, be sure to manually save it here before going up to the roof (I'll explain why shortly).
After the roof, you will find yourself on the other side of the same porthole door. Viva! But this is where things can go wrong, unfortunately…
Whatever you do, do it No press hatch interaction message after you've been on the roof. Doing so will teleport you back to the save point, essentially preventing you from exploring the area you just unlocked. Instead, ignore the message on this side of the door and continue exploring.

If you accidentally press the interaction button and find yourself on the wrong side of the door, fear not. Although some players have reported issues with autosave here, there are ought An autosave has been performed just before that point, allowing you to reload on the correct side of the door.
If not, I'm afraid you'll have to go back and re-read your last manual save. That's why it's important to manually save before going up to the roof, in case the autosave fails for some reason.
So far, Bloober Team has not received any information on when a fix might be on the way, but we'll keep you posted.
Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake has already sold a total of 1 million copies across physical and digital media since its global release on October 8.
“Against all odds, Bloober Team has delivered a remake that expands Silent Hill 2 in the right places and pays close attention to what it preserves,” I wrote in Eurogamer's Silent Hill 2 Remake review, giving the game an impressive five points. five stars in the process.
