3 things I love (and hate) about the PS5 Pro
The PS5 Pro has officially hit shelves and I've only had one in my hands for a couple of days. My full review will come later, but I have some initial thoughts on this beast of a console. My hot points aside, there's no doubt that it's a powerhouse loaded with impressive new features. However, this comes at a cost, and a considerable one at that. Is this high-performance machine everything you expected? Absolutely, but there are some things that “bite” me at first. Here's a breakdown of what I love (and some things I don't like) about Sony's latest console.
love list
1) The most powerful console on the planet
The PS5 Pro's powerful hardware sets it apart from the competition. Obviously, you can build a better PC, but as far as consoles go, it doesn't get any better than this. With a GPU that includes 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory than the standard PS5, it is designed for serious gaming. He's easily the most powerful one I've ever played with. This improved GPU translates to a 45% increase in rendering speed, meaning smoother gameplay and less lag. Combined with the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology (in regions that support it), the PS5 Pro offers incredibly fast connections for gaming and streaming online. There are a lot of things to like under the hood.
2) The games look awesome
With its advanced ray tracing capabilities, the PS5 Pro raises the bar for graphics. Of course, I have yet to put it to the test, but the games look and play fantastic. According to Sony, this new ray tracing system allows light reflections and refractions to be reproduced up to three times faster than the original PS5. Add to that PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), Sony's new AI-powered upscaling technology, and you get visual fidelity that's nearly indistinguishable from native 4K. Games like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and F1 2024 look amazing on the PS5 Pro, with details and lighting bringing these worlds to life vividly.
3) The shape and design are impressive
Sony has managed to offer a Hulk console while maintaining the elegant and refined design. The PS5 Pro is a little larger than the PS5, but the aesthetic design is eye-catching without looking bulky or overly complicated. It integrates seamlessly into entertainment setups and gives off a futuristic vibe to match its powerful internal components. The console also includes a substantial 2TB SSD to accommodate the latest massive game files, meaning less hassle and more space for your favorite titles right out of the box. What's not to like about that?
