Police Simulator: Patrol Officers Review – Jank Simulator

Police Simulator: Patrol Officers Review

Police Simulator: Patrol Officers Nintendo Switch Edition isn't the best thing I've played this year. Between the wacky animations and mechanics and the somewhat ugly graphics, this one isn't on my “best” list.

Who doesn't like to immerse themselves in a new simulator from time to time? Police Simulator: Patrol Officers is the Nintendo Switch port of the simulation game. You play as a police officer starting from a small position, issuing tickets and parking tickets. You can choose from a pre-set selection of official characters. Each day, you choose your shift and your shift hours and how much time you are willing to spend.

You will also be able to file complaints and intervene in traffic accidents, as well as many other crimes in the city. Many of them are minor crimes. The game seems to work a bit without thinking, not much of your “police work” requires any real thought process for engaging gameplay. Although crimes come in various forms and you are offered various ways to solve them. However, you must make sure that the punishment you apply fits the crime so as not to ruin your points and progression. Jay Walking, car accidents, drug deals, among many others, will need you to go out into the world of Brighton and solve them.

Someone call the police

Police Simulator: Patrol Officers seems like a good concept on paper, but it doesn't seem to be implemented in the best way. Police Simulator's progression works in the sense that you gradually advance to tackle more complicated crimes and crimes from simpler ones. It is true that there is much to do, but not much well done. A lot ends up being repetitive. Even when it is a new and not so boring task. Simple tasks become irritating to perform because there are many cases where the game cannot record what you have already done and guide you to the next point of your task.

Bugs in this game are frequent and difficult to ignore, sometimes ruining your career progression. Some small things wouldn't be too big of a problem on their own, but things like that add up. For example, a car accident that happens right next to the car accident you are supposed to handle. All this while another car arrives at that first situation. The next moment you're running through a car or a wall. And guess what? You just lost points for all that chaos. Maybe the bad thing is the attractiveness.

It's a bug, not a feature

Police Simulator: Patrol Officers unfortunately doesn't seem to have the best graphics nor quite harsh frame drops. Even the movement itself is uncomfortable to look at. The character models walk very strangely and sometimes of course this is on the switch so the fact doesn't help. The game's controls can be unresponsive and quirky, trying to catch speeding criminals becomes an impossible task. Additionally, certain bugs in the game can inhibit your career progression during your turns and make completing certain tasks frustrating. The same does not have the best assets. Not so good textures and flat environments abound. It is not the most attractive game on the market, far from it. The world has many decorations and shops that make it feel like a cozy little town and you can choose where you want to explore. But regardless, everything seems to fall into place for me after a while.

Overall, Police Simulator: Patrol Officers needs a little more time to prepare. The concept of being a cop and moving up the ladder of justice is great. Better implementation would take Police Simulator: Patrol Officers to the next level, plus a little more polish because it feels like it wasn't ready to hit the streets yet. All those mistakes and rubbish are a pretty big offense.
