Atlus has promised that it is working on the unstable performance of Metaphor: the PC version of ReFantazio.
Metaphor: ReFantazio's Prologue demo is giving everyone a taste of the epic fantasy's opening hours, which curiously only covers a fraction of the full game's 100-hour runtime, but some players were quick to report that the PC seemed plagued with several performance issues causing frequent stutters. and framerate drops in denser areas.
Metaphor's framerate issues were unexpected considering Atlus' Persona 3 Reload ran perfectly on PC earlier this year, but it doesn't look like the Persona studio will let its fantasy JRPG fall behind.
Metaphor: ReFantazio launches on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass on October 11, and it should scratch the Persona 6-shaped itch we all have. Atlus continues his turn-based abilities in a brand new fantasy world (that still makes references to Shin Megami, strangely), with a kingdom that is struggling to find a new leader.
However, being an Atlus JRPG, even Prologue's demo isn't exactly small. It includes the first four dungeons of the game, seven classes and “the beginning of the journey to life, the curse of death on the protagonist's best friend, the prince.” Oh, and all progress carries over to the main game, so you can get a bit of a head start.
Metaphor: The developers at ReFantazio say high-stakes JRPG choices are like driving a race car, which is why they sponsor F1's cutest loser.
