In July 2023, I reviewed the Oakywood Custom Standing Desk. Almost a year and a half later, Oakywood released the improved version. They call it Oakywood Standing Desk Pro. Their innovative custom design tool is now a staple in their product line, and the company has improved some areas of the aforementioned Oakywood custom standing desk to make it an even better desk, create it or No.
But before we delve into that, it's worth noting that as the desire and demand for ergonomic solutions in professional workspaces and unique home offices continues to increase, an issue with size continues to arise. The run-of-the-mill size doesn't always work for those basements, side rooms, bedroom corners, and dedicated home offices. They don't even always fit in professional offices.
So Oakywood set out to solve that problem by using their custom size. They have this Standing Desk Pro if you need a “normal” to “large” desk. If you have a smaller space to fill, they have the Standing Desk Pro Mini. Both can be customized to fit your space and have the exact grommets, hardware, and color combinations. There's something about being able to customize every aspect of your desktop that is incredibly satisfying. All this customization comes at a price, but so does having a desk that doesn't fit; I'll let you decide what price you want to pay. Want to see how the new update compares to the best standing desks I've reviewed? I put this one to the test.
Oakywood Standing Desk Pro: Price and Availability
The base configuration of the Oakywood Standing Desk Pro starts at $1,190 and can add up quickly when you equip it with accessories and sizes. If I max out the price, I can get the Oakywood Standing Desk Pro for up to $3390 without accessories. Speaking of accessories, Oakywood sells great desk shelves, MagSafe mounts, cable organizers, laptop stands, and desk mats.
Oakywood can ship worldwide, but remember that if you are customizing a desk, they need time to meet to build it, cut it to size, and then ship it. Those lead times can be up to 9 weeks, but customizing a beautiful piece of walnut on a desk takes time to do right. You can go to Target or buy a cheap writing desk or desk on Amazon now.
Another thing that is super impressive and shows the type of company Oakywood is is that they promote price transparency. They have a diagram that shows where the money spent with them goes, which makes you feel a little better knowing that your money is going to a good place.
Oakywood Standing Desk Pro: Unboxing and first impressions
Most of the time, my first impressions of a desk start when I receive it and often as soon as I unpack it. However, based on the online editor tools, I can express my first impressions of this desktop. I couldn't wait to get my hands on my custom desk, especially after trying out the newer grommet options and choosing a solid walnut desk with complementary accessories.
The packaging was compact and well organized, making it incredibly easy to unpack. This desk came in a box that was closed with screws and not just tape, which I appreciated knowing it helped protect my custom desk. The boxes contained the desk, adjustable steel frame legs, a control panel, assembly tools and the necessary cables.
I immediately loved the premium finish of the wood, the sturdy build quality, and how easy it was to build. It only took a few minutes, unlike most desktops which take much longer.
Oakywood Standing Desk Pro – quality design and build
Specs
Height range: 63-128cm (24.8-50.4 inches)
Lifting speed: 60 mm/s with noise levels less than 40 dB
Maximum load: 70 kg (154 lb)
I chose a solid walnut desk, although they also have solid oak, oak and walnut veneer, and black stained oak. If you are interested in veneer boards, they are finished with eco-friendly oil wax and are much lighter and cheaper than solid wood variants.
Everywhere, the desk is minimal and I love that. It is a beautiful work of art in itself. It is a finely crafted piece of wood that looks good on its own, not to mention once displayed with other beautiful equipment.
The desk can raise and lower quickly and quietly, making it perfect for virtually any space; Don't worry if it will be too loud.
Oakywood Standing Desk Pro: In use
The controller for raising and lowering the desk is quite elegant. It is a handle and display in the same piece. Lift the small knob and the desk rises; Push it down and, you guessed it, go down. Inside the knob is a display that also reads the height. The cool thing is that you can jump to a saved preset with a double click.
I'm 6'2″ and the other reviewer who tested this desk is about 6'3″. Not only can the Oakywood Standing Desk Pro reach our preferred height, but it is also stable at that height, which is fantastic.
Lastly, I put this desk on wheels, like I do with most of my desks. The caster wheels make the transition super easy if (let's be honest…when) I decide to change something. I can move the desk away from the wall, make my adjustments, and then step back. Or, in the case of a multi-purpose room, if that room needs to be used for more than just an office, the desk can be deployed without worry or damage.

Oakywood Standing Desk Pro: Final Verdict
The Oakywood Standing Desk Pro combines aesthetics, sustainability and ergonomic functionality, making it a great choice for modern workspaces. Although its premium pricing and custom order delivery times may not appeal to everyone, it is a worthwhile option for those looking to make a long-term investment in their workspace.
