Nintendo is accepting requests from players to try out a mysterious new feature coming to Switch Online, and don't worry, everyone is as lost as you are right now.
“We will be running a test called Nintendo Switch Online: Test Program related to a new feature of the Nintendo Switch Online service offered for the Nintendo Switch system,” reads a page that goes out of its way to explain what's going on here.
Nintendo has yet to give even the slightest clue as to what this new feature is, but you'll need an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership and download “exclusive software” to try it out before its release. But first you will have to be accepted into the play test and first you will have to submit your application.
You have from Thursday, October 10 at 8 a.m. PDT until Tuesday, October 15 at 7:59 a.m. PDT to do so, but Nintendo says it will close the application page early if “the number of accepted participants has reached its limit”. In that sense, Nintendo says it plans to accept “up to 10,000” participants. To have a chance to be one of them, you just have to be 18 years old at the time of applying and live in Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy or Spain.
This is weird, but it's precisely the kind of weird thing that doesn't get weird when you remember that it was Nintendo who did it. The company is known for confusing its fan base, although I don't remember anything like that happening before. There are many theories about what Nintendo is doing, but frankly, none of them are compelling enough to list here. I guess only time will tell.
In the meantime, here are the best changing games You can play today.
