The Fast and Furious team is coming to Netflix with their first five outings, which is the perfect length for a weekend Fast marathon. But while all five movies are worth watching in their own way, five movies is a lot of time for even the most dedicated Fast and Furious fans to make their weekend plans. So if you want to travel with Dom and his team, we've put together some viewing options for a quick rewatch that won't require sacrificing your entire weekend for the family.
This is the drag race option, a quarter mile of pure speed and greatness. This back-to-back gives you two of the three best films in the series no matter how you look at it, and it's lining up to be a pretty perfect action double-header. On top of that, it also serves as a perfect microcosm of the Fast franchise's broader shifts toward blockbuster chaos, with each film clearly reflecting the era of Hollywood cinema in which it was created.
There's really no good narrative reason to choose these three to watch over the five available on Netflix, but here's the thing: they're easily the best three available. And you know what, what the Fast franchise is about if it's not about having the best time possible?
The most important story beats.
It's a damn shame to cut Tokyo Drift Whatever Fast reruns you might be enjoying, but if all you're looking for is a summary of the critical moments in the history of the Fast family, then these are the right three to choose from from the available options.
Look, I can't really recommend this one entirely, but I can understand how it might happen. Maybe in your regular replays you (quite rightly) decide to miss these two? And now that only the first five are on Netflix, could you argue that's the perfect excuse to go back and give these decidedly lesser entries a fairer deal? You probably won't come away from this double feature with a new favorite film in the franchise, but at least you'll come away enjoying these two films more than you remember. On top of that, it's an excellent match for Paul Walker's talents, and that's a major highlight for any Fast rerun.
For one, you can definitely look for other Fast and Furious movies on the various streaming sites they exist on; most of them are on Peacock, but that will change later this week. On the other hand, the best option might be to stick to Netflix and watch some Fast-type movies you haven't seen before: the Lost Bullet series.
Lost Bullet is a two-movie French franchise full of incredible car chases and vehicular mayhem. They don't exactly give off the family vibes that the Fast franchise offers, but as far as car-based action goes, Lost Bullet absolutely lives up to the best that Dom and his team have to offer.
