Marvel Snap is back online, following its unexpected ban in the US.
Over the weekend, the digital trading card game was banned in the US along with TikTok, due to its publisher Nuverse being owned by TikTok owner ByteDance.
At the time, developer Second Dinner said the ban was a “surprise” to both the Marvel Snap team and players. He went on to state that he would do everything he could to get the game back up and running as quickly as possible. Second Dinner has done it and Marvel Snap is back online in the US.
The developer is now “working to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher” to ensure this type of surprise ban doesn't happen again.
Calling this move the “beginning of a new era” for the card game, the Marvel Snap team acknowledged that players may have “more questions than answers.” However, he assured his social media followers that he would keep them informed with more details on the matter “as soon as possible.”
There are still some outstanding issues following the suspension of Marvel Snap. In response to X users, Second Dinner said it is still working to restore the game's availability on the App Store, adding that this “may take some time.”
Additionally, he noted that “in-app purchases are still not available, but the team is working on it.” Meanwhile, he said that purchases on the web store are working correctly, so players can go there for now.

Upon its release, Marvel Snap gained dozens of fans, including many from the Eurogamer team. He was soon nominated for several awards at prestigious events, including the BAFTAs.
Our Donlan was especially enthralled with Marvel Snap upon its debut, praising the game for giving him some welcome moments to pause and reflect.
“Every time I lose a game, and I lose all the time, I spend a few pleasant moments figuring out what went wrong, picking up my deck, and trading cards in and out. There is a reward for being bad at the game. How nice,” he wrote in his article Games of 2022: Marvel Snap offered the best moments of reflection.
