The second Prime Day sale of the year is almost over and will end on Sunday, October 13 at 11:59 pm AEDT. And while we were crazy about the Dyson Airwrap dropping to a record price of AU$499, another Dyson has been stealing the show.
It is the Dyson V8 cordless vacuum cleaner that has sold very quickly. We've been following the best sellers since the start of the sale and have noticed that our readers have been purchasing Dyson's current base model (the V7 has been discontinued). According to our data, TechRadar readers have purchased about a dozen Dyson V8 stick vacuums in just a few days. Amazon agrees, too: According to the online retailer's own number crunching, it's currently the sixth bestseller in the Home category, after products like the Scrub Daddy sponge and The Pink Stuff cleaners.
And it's no surprise, because the Dyson V8 has been half price during the Prime Big Deal Days sale – just AU$399 (was AU$799) for those who don't follow the prices. Even our number one pick for the best cordless stick vacuums, the Shark Wireless Detect Pro with Self-Emptying System at the best price, doesn't sell as much. To be fair, it costs almost twice as much, but it's worth the investment, so to speak. Still, if you don't want to spend a lot of money and need a vacuum that will clean a small house in one go, the Dyson V8 is up to the task – get one before the sale ends!
As we have already mentioned, the Dyson V8 is currently the base model of the British brand's cordless vacuum cleaner. While it's not exactly the original version that was released in 2016 (Dyson has made some adjustments), the specs are largely the same.
You'll only get a maximum of 40 minutes of run time with non-motorized accessories (like the crevice tool and dusting brush) and a little less when using the Motorbar cleaning head. Still, that's usually enough to vacuum the floors of the average one-bedroom Australian home.
Having the Hair Screw tool means it will be much easier to vacuum up hair and fur without tangles, so less attachment maintenance is needed. And there is a lot of suction power here (115 watts of air) generated by the 110,000 rpm motor inside the V8. Sure, it's not as powerful as newer Dyson cordless vacuums (the Gen5detect, for example, has 262 AW of power), but for regular vacuuming jobs, that's plenty.
In our 4-star Dyson V8 review, we highlighted it for its affordability, versatile design, and impressive suction for an older model. But if this deal isn't as appealing to you as it has been to several of our readers, take a look at the other Prime Day vacuum deals we've discovered.
