Laika: Aged Through Blood is a Western Meet Metroidvania
A post-apocalyptic world soaked in blood and rust, a mother and a warrior, a path of revenge. All this and more awaits those players willing to embark on the world of this metroidvania. Today, Thunderful and Brainwash Gang are excited to announce that their next metroidvania, Laika: Aged Through Blood, will release on January 30, 2025 for Nintendo Switch. The game invites players into a beautifully hand-painted world encompassing fast-paced vehicular combat and a deep story of love and revenge. Combining a Western-style aesthetic with metroidvania gameplay, the game seeks to accelerate a classic formula and bring a new experience to players. A press release provides more details about the game.
Laika: Aged in Blood tells the story of a coyote mother, a warrior belonging to an oppressed tribe. Importantly, as a mother coyote, players will follow a revenge-driven story to reclaim what their people lost. However, during this story, players will also discover a deep mother-daughter relationship and a story of loss and recovery. Interestingly, the game combines classic metroidvania side-scrolling, but turns it up to 11 with the inclusion of a motorcycle. Of course, players will need this bike to traverse the wastelands of this post-apocalyptic world. However, they will need more than just their bike. Fortunately, players are armed and dangerous, using their gun on their motorcycle as well as various abilities designed to take on various bosses in a diverse world full of missions.
A launch trailer gives players a taste of the art style. Check it out below.
