Why did Ubisoft just tell us that Assassin's Creed Shadows lets you “run Naruto” around the map? That should have been in the reveal trailer! Ubisoft's stock would be through the roof, Assassin's Creed Shadows would be preemptively called GOTY 2025, and all the big games releasing in February 2025 would be delayed to escape the omnipotent shadow of Assassin's Creed Shadows.
OK, that might be an exaggeration, but Naruto running around feudal Japan sounds pretty cool. Assassin's Creed Shadows creative director Jonathan Dumont revealed this sweet little detail in a new interview with EW.
For the uninitiated, Dumont is referring to the classic anime Naruto, whose titular hero is often seen running at full speed, leaning forward and with his arms pulled back.
Assassin's Creed Shadows has two protagonists that the player can switch between at any time. Yasuke is a large, muscular samurai who uses brute force to overcome enemies, while Naoe is an agile shinobi who prefers a more stealthy approach to avoid confrontation. Naturally, it is Naoe who can execute Naruto.
Dumont also said that Naoe is “the fastest assassin” the Assassin's Creed franchise has ever seen, which should be fun jumping across rooftops. And speaking of which, Dumont teased “a race about buildings that has a little wink,” apparently referring to another reference to a different series. Looking Glass's Edge perhaps?
