Kurast Undercity is a time attack style dungeon exclusive to Diablo 4The first expansion, glass of hate. Here, you will dive beneath Kurast, the capital city of Nahantu, to get through the dungeon as quickly as possible, gain time to kill monsters, and increase your reward threshold by gaining attunement.
on this Diablo 4 guide, we'll teach you how to unlock the Kurast Undercity activity, how to upgrade your loot rewards, and how to avoid running out of time.
How to Unlock Kurast Undercity in Diablo 4
Kurast Undercity takes place…under the city of Kurast, as you can imagine. To unlock this activity, you must first advance in the glass of hate Campaign your way to Kurast and work for the council there. This should be around the time you face the first major boss.
Then, a council member will teach you how to make the basic version of Kurast Undercity. (At the end of the game, you can apply modifiers, which we won't talk about here.) As you progress through the questline, you'll unlock new districts to adventure through.
How to get more time in Kurast Undercity

Kurast Undercity is a time raid dungeon and you only start with 100 seconds default. But to complete the dungeon and earn rewards, you will have to fight through several floors of the dungeon to find the boss. Unless you're overleveled for the difficulty you're on, this process will almost certainly take upwards of 100 seconds, meaning the dungeon will kick you out and end your run before you can finish.
Scattered throughout each floor of the dungeon are Afflicted monsters and Affected structures (which usually look like big hamster wheels). These objects and enemies have an orange hourglass next to their icon on the map. Defeating afflicted monsters or destroying afflicted structures gives you back time and may even take you past that initial 100 second timer. However, these are elite monsters and high health builds, so you'll have to decide if the time you'll need to spend killing them is worth the time you'll get back.
Ideally, you can stack several afflicted monsters at once and deal area damage to kill them all at once, allowing you to recover a lot of time for a little time spent.
How to upgrade your Kurast Undercity loot chest

The goal of Kurast Undercity, like most activities in Diablo 4 – is to get powerful new loot and further improve your build. You'll get a chest full of loot if you reach the last floor of the dungeon in time and then kill the boss. But you can upgrade this loot by filling your tuning metro. You must have at least level 1 Attunement to get reward upgrades.
To increase your Attunement, which you can accumulate up to four times, you must activate beacons and Great beacons while running across the floors. These beacons will spawn a horde of monsters that are all linked to the beacon itself. If you can kill all the enemies connected to the Beacon, it will drop a large amount of Attunement, constantly increasing your meter. In our experience, there are more attunement beacons and large beacons than you'll need to limit your attunement meter, so you can skip a few as you go and still get decent rewards.
The only thing to keep in mind with Attunement is that it's designed to be a trap, meaning the push and pull of Kurast Undercity activity is trying to test your greed. If you're running out of time, stopping to get more Attunement could cost you the entire race, meaning you'll get no loot instead of a little less loot. Try not to be greedy and you can earn great rewards while working in Kurast Undercity.
