Hourglasses They are special items in Pokémon TCG Pocket that allow you to open packages and launch a wonderful selection sooner. Although you can normally only open one package every 12 hours, you can use a Hourglass Pack to reduce this timer by one hour. You can also use Wonderful hourglasses to reduce the wonderful selection timer by one hour each.
There are quite a few ways to get Pack Hourglasses and Wonder Hourglasses, so you'll want to make sure you play every aspect of the game to earn them. Future features and limited-time events may also provide hourglasses, but these are the ones available at launch.
Below we list all the methods we know of to obtain Pack and Wonder Hourglasses. Pokémon TCG Pocket and explain how to use hourglasses.
How to use hourglasses in Pokémon TCG Pocket
To use your hourglass pack, select the pack you want to open and simply select the “open one pack” or “open 10 packs” button (depending on how many hourglasses you have and want to spend). This will prompt you to spend your hourglasses to open the package, as long as you have any in reserve.
For Wonder Hourglasses, you'll need to do the same, just for the wonderful selections. Select a pack you want to choose Wonder from and follow the instructions to recharge the required amount of Wonder Stamina. The game will automatically set the correct amount of Wonder Hourglasses that you will use to begin your choice.
You will receive a pack of four hourglasses from your daily missions. The missions themselves are not too difficult and you only have to complete three of the five missions presented to get your daily dose of hourglasses. To complete them, you will need to do three of the following actions:
- Access
- Open 1 booster pack
- Open 2 booster packs
- Wonder Pick 1 time
- Participate in 1 battle
Complete additional missions
In addition to daily tasks, you will have missions for beginners To complete that reward, you'll receive a whopping 120 Hourglass Packs, enough to open 10 packs at a time. The missions are the following:
- Wonder Pick 1 time (Pack of 24 hourglasses)
- Reach Player Level 3 (24 Hourglass Pack)
- Open 4 booster packs (24 hourglass pack)
- Engage in 1 solo battle (24 Hourglass Pack)
- Collect 50 cards (24 hourglass pack)
- Complete 1 Beginner Mission (24 Wonder Hourglasses)
- Complete 3 Beginner Missions (24 Wonder Hourglasses)
- Complete 5 Beginner Missions (24 Wonder Hourglasses)
After completing the beginner missions, you will get some advanced missionswhich also rewards you with a pack of 120 additional hourglasses. Unlike the beginner quests, you won't get rewards for completing individual quests, but rather a lump sum of hourglasses for completing nine of them:
- Edit a deck
- Register 1 friend
- Applying card sleeves to a deck
- Applying a Playmat to a Deck
- Get style 1 time
- send 1 thank you
- send 5 thanks
- Win 3 solo battles.
- Register 3 friends
- Get style 2 times
- Reach player level 6
- Link your Nintendo account
- Complete 3 advanced missions (250 Shinedust)
- Complete 6 advanced missions (500 Shinedust)
- Complete 9 Advanced Missions (120 Hourglass Pack)
Keep in mind that there are 12 quests to complete, meaning you don't have to do them all to get that big reward.
These missions are made up of things that you will do as you play naturally, so you won't have to put in much effort to complete them.
Complete the battle guide and solo card battles.
You will get a small handful of Pack Hourglasses if you complete the tutorial for battles and then the solo card battles what comes next. Each of the seven tutorials will give you two Pack Hourglasses for a total of 12.
There are seven solo battles per difficulty, and each difficulty rewards a different amount of Pack Hourglasses (the higher the difficulty, the more you get). The only exception is the expert difficulty, where there are only six battles. The rewards are as follows:
- Intensified Battle Battles for Beginners – Pack of 2 Hourglasses Each
- Intermediate Advanced Battle: Pack of 3 Hourglasses Each
- Advanced Advanced Battle: Pack of 5 Hourglasses Each
- Battle Expert Intensifier: Pack of 7 Hourglasses Each
That said, you won't be able to delete them all at once. While we were able to clear the beginner level battles pretty quickly with the first few cards, later sets require more strategy and more cohesive decks (rather than just throwing together what you got from your first few packs).
Buy them with store tickets
You can buy each type of hourglass in the store for two buy tickets each. You can get tickets to purchase from other players who thank you, give a thumbs up to your collection, and complete solo battles. Each solo battle also has specific challenges that will give you additional purchase tickets, so be sure to pay attention to what you need to do before jumping into battle.
Level up by fighting and collecting
You'll get a handful of Hourglasses every time you level up, which isn't much different from the previous methods since you have to fight and open packs to get XP. That being said, if you noticed some hourglasses appearing in your inventory and you don't know where they came from, it's probably from leveling up.
Collect cards from themed collections

Collecting certain cards will complete sets which will sometimes reward hourglasses. You can see them by opening the quest menu and selecting the “themed collections” button in the bottom right corner. Some of the quests are listed, but some are hidden and will not appear until you complete them. For reference, Serebii.net has a handy list of all thematic collections (even hidden ones).
For a few dollars: get them in premium missions
If you want to pay the Premium monthly subscription of $9.99, you can get up to 11 Pack Hourglasses and eight Wonder Hourglasses by completing the premium missions. The quests seem to reset monthly (next month is December, since the game just came out on October 30th and giving you 48 hours to complete a month-long set of quests seems cruel).
