Some of the first ideas for Death Stranding came from Hideo Kojima's phone.
Over the weekend, Kojima took to Twitter to look back on his studio and, by extension, Death Stranding's humble beginnings on the game's fifth anniversary. At first, Kojima Productions was a studio in name only, as the Metal Gear creator's office space was more of a closet that barely fit a handful of desks. “Because I was so small, I was the only one who came in,” Kojima says.
Kojima goes on to say that all he had at the time was a computer, a PS4 to watch Blu-rays, headphones, a smartphone, and a few other things. As such, most of Death Stranding's concepts were done on Kojima's phone, most likely while he was browsing Twitter and posting movie shots.
That's not the only piece of information Kojima has revealed either. If you remember the hand that is part of the Death Stranding logo, it belongs to none other than Kojima himself. So, quite a practical approach.
Now that Kojima has new technology at hand, we don't have to wait long to play the next Death Stranding game. We know that Death Stranding 2 will release in 2025, and Kojima says the date is already decided, although he couldn't reveal it at the Tokyo Game Show due to “unforeseen reasons.” We hope we're not waiting too long for a solid date.
Speaking of progress, Hideo Kojima showed nine seconds of footage of Death Stranding 2's title screen and warned that it is “very temporary.”
