“To celebrate some Warhammer news, I decided to make a pilgrimage to the first place I bought Warhammer models over 30 years ago… The Little Shop, on my home island of Jersey!” Cavill wrote in instagram. The former Man of Steel and The Witcher star is on board to star and executive produce the project, which was first officially announced in December 2022, when Amazon acquired the rights to the board game.
“My incredible team and I, along with the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, have been working in concept rooms, exploring approaches to the enormity and magnificence of the Warhammer world,” he continued.
“Together, we have been sifting through the many incredible characters and poring over ancient tomes and texts. Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to begin our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those at the top both at Amazon and and Games Workshop That starting location will, for now, remain a secret, but watch this space – there will be more to come!
More details about the show are still up in the air, as other casting information has yet to be revealed and a showrunner has also not been confirmed. Cavill is a lifelong fan of the game, in which players control armies of miniature models. “I've loved Warhammer since I was a kid, which makes this moment really special for me,” he said when the series was first announced two years ago. “The opportunity to guide this cinematic universe from its beginnings is an honor and a responsibility.”
