helldivers 2 Players face their potentially most morally dubious Grand Order yet: helping the High Command recruit refugee families to build the structurally flawed superweapon called the Democracy Space Station… which has no beds or bathrooms and runs the risk of collapsing and self-destructing. combustion.
That's pretty complicated, man. This is far from the first time I've seriously questioned the moral fortitude of Helldivers 2's Game Master Joel, who previously sent freedom fighters to literally blow up bug babies and sacrificed the well-being of sick children to help build the DSS. Oh, not to mention the fact that the last modus operandi was widely called “unwinnable” and, although you wouldn't know it, it wasn't won.
Still, I think this latest modus operandi might be the cruelest update to the elusive game master yet. In a tweet, Arrowhead said that Helldivers 2 players not completing the most recent MO was a “minor setback” and then went on to describe a new MO with some truly irredeemable demands.
“Despite the minor setback, construction of the DSS continues unabated,” the tweet reads. “It is currently in its third phase of construction, and before it can be activated, it must be staffed. Fortunately, cheap labor is emerging from the colonies near Gloom, which is currently experiencing some sort of eruption with extremely ferocious that come out of it.
“The Helldivers are ordered to hold the designated planets while these disenfranchised families build their new home aboard the superweapon.”
MAIN ORDER: The Helldivers bravely achieved two of the three objectives set by High Command, capturing the automaton database and limiting the robots' territorial expansion, but failed to re-secure the Terminid Research Reserve. Security has been doubled in… pic.twitter.com/aaHTorIJgSNovember 4, 2024
Basically, the Terminids are attacking planets obscured by the spore cloud they created called The Gloom, and the families fleeing these planets are being recruited by the High Command, and apparently paid peanuts, to help build the new DSS superweapon, that could explode and kill everyone. on board at any time. It's the players' job to secure those planets for easy passage.
It's still not entirely clear what the DSS will do when construction is complete, which is a little strange because it's been dominating our MOs for months now. Arrowhead recently said he wasn't ready to get “into the details” just yet, but from what we've heard it sounds a bit like the Helldivers 2 version of Star Wars' Death Star, a galaxy-hopping space station that will be a “powerful strategic tool to reshape the Galactic Map” that could ultimately “change the course of the war.”
That's why you read the Helldivers 2 patch notes carefully: a goldfish was “put to rest” in space where the pressure “caused it to heat up, explode violently, and disintegrate.”
