Please note that heart pieces are not the same as whole pieces. heart containers you get for completing boss fights. Heart pieces are items that you will find scattered throughout the map. Collecting four of them will give you an extra heart and increase your total maximum health by the same amount as a single heart container does.

There are 40 Heart Pieces to collect throughout Hyrule. The map above shows the 29 heart pieces we have found so far.
Where to find pieces of heart in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Heart pieces, like stamp holders, can be basically anywhere, but they tend to be in hard-to-reach places.
Look for them on top of pillars surrounded by enemies or on top of difficult-to-climb cliffs. You won't have to defeat all the enemies to grab the heart piece, but doing so will be easier when you're not dodging attacks.
You'll also find many of them in caves and mini-dungeons scattered around the map. They'll usually be behind some simple puzzle or on the other side of a complicated platforming section.
