Shortly after releasing a Herculean update last week, developer Supergiant Games has now quickly responded to fan feedback that washed ashore with Hades 2's sixth patch.
The roguelike-in-progress took Melinoe to a new region, gave her a new jetpack-gauntlet weapon, and further expanded her pantheon of gods in last week's Olympus Update, but the titular region seems to have kicked everyone's butt too much. strong as the The studio is now backing away from some of that challenge. Supergiant Games tweeted that the patch “should help make your battles in the new region a little smoother,” and has nerfed almost every enemy on Olympus, including the new main boss, to prove it. Some enemy attack patterns have also been tweaked to be clearer, which should indirectly make things easier as well.
That's all well and good, but the most important thing for me in games is whether or not I can smash things, especially crunchy ones. things. Link terrorizes every pot he sees in Hyrule. Our cursed Dark Souls avatars get into urns galore. Even the first Hades game fulfilled those fantasies quite well. You need to get carried away by the promise of something small and satisfying to destroy in big games like these, and Hades 2 was seriously lacking in the important pot-smashing department, but thankfully patch six is making amends. “You can now break urns and other objects when you run towards them,” the game's most recent patch notes explain. Viva.
On the other hand, patch six is packed with the usual big fixes, weapon tweaks, minor text changes, and miscellaneous menu tweaks we've come to expect as Supergiant Games continues working on its next major Early Access update due out at some point. early 2025.
In the meantime, see where the original Hades lands in our best roguelike games list. Spoilers: he's tall.
